It has always been a dream of mine to work in all aspects of the music industry, from behind the scenes to live shows to creating my own music. On November 19, 2024, I was given the opportunity—along with a volunteer—to attend the sold-out Super Half-Marathon Tour featuring The Wrecks and the local Boulder band The High Lines at Globe Hall in Denver, Colorado. As a long-time fan of The Wrecks, this was a life-changing experience.
The Wrecks, an alternative indie-rock band from California formed in 2015, are known for their high-energy sound and sharp, self-reflective lyrics. They gained recognition with their breakout single, Favorite Liar, and solidified their presence in the indie-rock scene with albums like Infinitely Ordinary (2020) and Sonder (2022). The band is led by frontman Nick Anderson, alongside Aaron Kelley, Nick (Schmizz) Schmidt, and Billy Nally.
The High Lines, an indie-rock band based in Boulder, Colorado, consists of lead vocalist and bassist Thomas Corbett, drummer Connor Loftin, guitarist Logan Proffitt, and guitarist Matt Jones. Three of the four members—Corbett, Loftin, and Proffitt—are seniors at CU Boulder. After releasing their debut single, Fake, in 2022, the band became known for their unique sound, soulful lyrics, and energetic stage presence.

We quickly became friends with The High Lines, who are probably one of the most down-to-earth local bands I’ve ever met. We had the chance to interview them briefly about their experience. The band was ecstatic when they found out they would be opening for The Wrecks. When asked how they discovered the opportunity, guitarist Logan Proffitt said, “I got a Snapchat from Matt,” and the others chimed in agreement. Drummer Connor Loftin added, “And then later, we found out it sold out. It was crazy.”
The High Lines released a new single, Coming Down, on the day of the show, and it was incredible to hear it live. The song fuses heartfelt lyrics with soaring indie-rock melodies—definitely a must-listen for indie-rock fans!

The Wrecks also released their first single since 2022, titled Always, Everytime. The track captures The Wrecks’ signature style but is fast-paced and upbeat, reportedly having gone through 19 different versions. The song reflects the experience of talking to someone who thinks the way you do. Nick Anderson shared on Instagram, “Made this song for all the wonderful neurodivergent ppl in my life who make me feel seen & now they’re playing it on the radio. That’s cool.”
Ironically, the first song I played on my debut radio show was Always, Everytime. After posting about it on TikTok, I received an email from the band, which eventually led to this incredible press opportunity.
The last time The Wrecks performed in Colorado was in October 2022 at the Fox Theatre in Boulder during their Back & Better Than Ever Tour. Having them return to Colorado—the very state mentioned in their first hit, Favorite Liar—felt special. Their previous tour incorporated a theme tied to their 2022 album, Sonder, with the band donning jumpsuits for nearly every show. This time, their aesthetic featured outfits inspired by marathon runners, with the stage backdrop set as a starting line. They even entered the stage while stretching.

Though this is only the second annual continuation of last year’s LA Half-Marathon Tour, it may hint at a theme for their next album. The Wrecks also debuted a new, unreleased song titled Speed, a fast-paced track perfectly aligned with the marathon vibe.
This tour offered just a glimpse of what we can expect from The Wrecks in the coming year. Although the Super Half-Marathon Tour was limited to five dates across the U.S., fans can rejoice—The Wrecks’ full-length Inside: Outside Tour kicks off on April 19, 2025, in Berkeley, California, and they’ll return to Denver at the Ogden Theatre on April 27.
We can’t wait to see what this new era of The Wrecks brings to the table!
