Station documentary + Spring 2026 Wrap-up!

(header photo: Hannah Howell)

It’s still finals week, but it’s probably not going to jinx anything to say that we’ve had our biggest and best semester yet here at Radio 1190 — thanks to the nearly 175 students, faculty, staff, and community who make the station the incredible community it is, every day.

When the semester started, we were almost all moved in to our new studios in Carlson Gymnasium — our first live student shows were Jan. 26 — and since then we’ve decorated, settled in, and produced hundreds of DJ shows and news broadcasts, held dozens of meetings and events, watched some late-night movies, and just gotten to know the space, and each other, better.

If you haven’t come by to visit yet, please do! And in the meantime, enjoy this amazing documentary produced by Radio 1190’s very own Colby Wyatt. We’re not crying, you’re crying.

So what else has been going on this semester? Glad you asked. Here’s a quick wrap-up:

  • 92 live music shows, 6 syndicated music shows, 8 podcasts, 2 student automation shows
  • 19 awards so far in 2026, including finalist for CU Involvement Student Program of the Year
  • Pre- and during-event DJs for TEDxCU on stage at Macky Auditorium
  • A bigger presence at this year’s Conference on World Affairs, including airing PSAs, live session broadcast, and Radio 1190’s own Hunter Pratt as a session moderator
  • Appearances throughout CMDI Admitted Student Day (and plans to be part of next year’s campuswide event!)
  • Lots of other events on campus, including DJing for the CU Art Museum, Pi Day celebrations in the math department, Hack CU, and more
  • Ticket Club keeps growing! We’ve even added new venues to our roster: eTown, Live Nation and AEG venues, and more Meow Wolf shows
  • And our Radio Prom (this year’s theme: Wizard Prom) was our biggest yet — close to 100 attendees and plenty of superlatives

That’s a lot, but we’ve got more in store for the summer, including our new summer program schedule out on May 11. Keep an eye out here, in our Listener Line email newsletter, or on our socials!

Onward and upward,
