5:00 Polls on the east coast have just closed in several states, including Georgia, Florida and Virginia. Early results from those states are expected to come in shortly. Polls in North Carolina, a key swing state, close in half an hour. Indiana and Kentucky as of the last update have reported 10 and 5 percent of their ballots, respectively. Colorado polls stay open until 7 p.m. Mountain Standard Time, voting in key swing states Arizona and Wisconsin close at that time as well. 

5:30 Polls have just closed in North Carolina, Ohio and West Virginia, and states across the eastern U.S. that closed half an hour ago are starting to be called. Kentucky and Indiana were called by the Associated Press for Donald Trump, gaining him eight and 11 electoral votes, respectively. Vermont was called for Kamala Harris, netting her 3 electoral votes. Many states with closed polls have only minimal votes reported with no clear result thusfar, including key swing state Georgia having reported only 6% of their votes. Florida has reported 64% of their votes, but are far from calling a winner at this time. In half an hour, polls will close in several states in the eastern U.S., including Michigan, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Illinois, stay tuned for further updates from KVCU 1190. 

6:00 Polls have now closed in most of the eastern U.S., including Pennsylvania, Michigan, Texas, Maryland, and Illinois, amongst several others. West Virginia as been called for Donald Trump, netting him 4 electoral votes. Florida sits at 81% of votes reported, with no winner called yet, Georgia sits at 24% reporting, and Ohio and Virginia sit at 22% reporting.

6:30 Polls will close here, as well as in Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, New York, and many other states. The following states have been called for Donald Trump: Florida, Tennessee, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Alabama and South Carolina, bringing his total of electoral votes up to 95. The following states have been called for Kamala Harris: Massachusetts, Maryland, Rhode Island and Connecticut. The following states still have votes reporting but are still too close to call: Georgia with 49% reporting, Virginia with 40% reporting, Ohio with 39% reporting, North Carolina with 9% reporting, Texas with 40% reporting,  Michigan with 4% reporting and Pennsylvania with 7% reporting. 7:00 Polls have closed here! As well as in Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, New York and many other states. The following states have been called for Donald Trump: Arkansas, bringing his electoral votes total up to 101. Kamala Harris has had New Jersey and Illinois called for her, bringing her electoral total up to 71. In an hour, polls will close in Montana, Idaho, Nevada and Utah. 7:30 Polls have closed in Montana, Idaho, Nevada and Utah. The following states have been called for Donald Trump: North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska and Wyoming. This brings his total electoral vote count up to 120. Kamala Harris has had New York and Delaware called for her, bringing her electoral vote count up to 99. Across the country, several key senate and congressional races are happening as well. 

8:00 The polls have been closed here for an hour. The polls in California, Oregon and Washington just closed. Wyoming has been called for Donald Trump, upping his total to 178. No additional states have been called for Kamala Harris at the current time. Several key swing states across the country have all still yet to have been called. In Colorado, several key local votes are coming in: In the house of representatives, incumbent Democrat Diana Degette has won her race in District 1 with 78% of the vote.

The following amendments have election results: Amendment G – YES; Amendment H – YES; Amendment I- YES; Amendment J- YES; Amendent K- Yes 44.5% v. No 55.5 (updated 7:45); Amendment 79 – YES; Amendment 80 – Yes 48.5 v. No 51.5 (updated 7:46); Proposition JJ – Yes; Proposition KK – Yes 53.7 

CU Regent at Large – Elliott Hood – Democratic -74.29 percent

Regional Transportation District Ballot Issue 7A has passed with a vote of 78.98% through Boulder

8:40 The polls have been closed here for an hour and a half. Joe Neguse, Democratic candidate, leads the congressional race for the District 2 seat with a commanding lead of 78% of the vote. In the Colorado State Senate District 17 Democratic candidate Sonya Jaquez Lewis continues to pull away from Republican challenger Tom Van Lone. 

In national results, Washington D.C. has been called for Kamala Harris bringing her electoral total to 112. Montana, Iowa and Kansas have been called for Donald Trump, with his electoral total sitting at 198.

9:30 Polls have been closed here for 2 hours. All polls in the contiguous United States have are now closed. The following states have been called for Kamala Harris: California, Oregon and Washington, as well as Maine’s first district. Kamala’s electoral total now stands at 187. Idaho and North Carolina have been called for Donald Trump, tapping his total up to 230. No major toss ups in the Senatorial or House races has been called yet. The current total for the House of Representatives stands at 160-107 in favor of the Republicans, while the Senatorial count stands at 49-38 in favor of the Republicans. Many more races are still waiting to be called. 

In Colorado, the following propositions have been called:

Update: Amendment J – Repealing the definition of Marriage in the Colorado Constitution-  YES – Same-Sex Legal; Amendment 79- Constitutional Right to Abortion-  YES state abortion ban repealed; Proposition 127 – Prohibit Large Cat hunting- YES  Prohibit the hunting or trapping of bobcats, lynx, and mountain lions

10:00 Polls have been closed here for 3 hours. All polls in the contiguous United States are now closed. The following states have been called for Kamala Harris: New Mexico, Hawaii and Virginia. Donald Trump has not had any states called for him since 9:30. The electoral vote count now stands at 230 to 209, Trump to Harris. Republican Bernie Moreno is projected to win the Ohio senate seat, earning the republicans a previously blue seat. Ted Cruz has won the Texas senate seat. 

10:35 Polls have been closed for 3 hours. All polls in the contiguous United States are now closed. Harris has won Omaha County in Nebraska, earning her an additional electoral college vote, bringing the total to 230 to 210 votes, Trump over Harris. Swing states to watch include Michigan and Arizona. Michigan, Georgia and Pennsylvania are expected to call races soon. 

Senate updates: Republicans have won the senate majority with 51 seats to the democrats’ 42. This comes after Republican Bernie Moreno won the Ohio senate seat, Republican Rick Scott won the Florida seat, and Republican Deb Fischer won the Nebraska seat.

House: Republicans are also leading in the House seats, with 179 seats to the democrats’ 144.
