University of Colorado V. Baylor University Homecoming Match at Folsom Field(Lily Wright | Radio 1190 News)


The CU Boulder Buffaloes and the Baylor University Bears play in this year’s Homecoming match up. With nearly 50,000 fans in attendance, the energy is high as Coach Deion Sander and Quarterback Shedeur Sanders attempt to win 2 games in a row for the first time in just over a year.

Q1 10:15 In a 60 yard return Josh Cameron drove the ball down setting Baylor up for a 32 yard field goal by Isaiah Hankins at 8:13 in their 4th down.

Q1 4:42 Colorado gain of 24 yards with a pass from #2 Sander to #12 Hunter.

Q1 3:43 #23 Isaiah Augustave rushes to the right for a gain of 14 yards to a Touchdown. The score was then nullified on a holding penalty call against Johnson. Sanders ran the ball to the 16 yard line setting him up for his own Touchdown at 1:56. Alejandro Mata was then able to successfully complete a field goal.

End of 1st Quarter The first quarter opened with Baylor taking a 3-0 lead. Quarter back. However, Colorado responded later in the quarter when QB Sanders powered in a 2-yard touchdown run giving Colorado a 7-3 lead.

Q2 14:26 In a completed 30 yard pass from Baylor QB Sawyer Robinson to Monaray Baldwin, Baylor Bears score their first touchdown of the game. They completed their field goal leaving the score 10-7.

Q2 6:55 Alejandro Mata hit a 43-yard field goal evening the score to 10-10.

Q2 6:44 Baylor’s Jamaal Bell drives the ball 100 yards down for their second touchdown of the game. Score 17-10 Baylor after a successful field goal.

Q2 6:02 Sander struggles to complete a pass.

Q2 4:19 Touchdown Baylor 24-10

Q2 0:50 Omarion Miller catches an amazing 58-yard pass for a touchdown Colorado bringing the score up to 24-17.

End of the 2nd Quarter Baylor surged ahead early in the second quarter with a 30-yard touchdown pass from Sawyer to Baldwin. Colorado was able to bounce back and equalize with a 43-yard field goal by Mata. Baylor, however, was able to regain their lead with a 100-yard kickoff return by Bell. Robertson later broke loose and added a 45-yard rushing touchdown making the score 24-10. A touchdown pass by Sanders to Miller with one minute left in the quarter brings the score up to 24-17 at the break.

Q3 11:22 Baylor receives possession and is able to move up midfield but turned over in a messy 4th down.

Q3 6:44/6:33 QB Shedeur Sanders struggle to complete a successful pass.

Q3 3:28 Sanders is able to complete a stunning 46-yard pass to Travis Hunter earning Colorado a 1st down. They both later repeated this with a 31-yard gain at 1:56

Q3 1:00 Touchdown Colorado by #29 Welch equalizing the score once again to 24-24.

End of 3rd Quarter Both Colorado defense and offense dominated in the 3rd quarter. Baylor was unsuccessful in an any attempt of gaining the lead. Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders did an excellent moving the ball upfield a total of 77 yards in under 2 minutes setting up freshman Micah Welch for a 2-yard rushing touchdown, his first of the season. Neither team were able to pull ahead, establishing a tense final quarter ahead.

Q4 5:43 Baylor’s Hal Presley caught 24-yard touchdown pass from Sawyer Robinson giving Baylor a 31-24 lead.

Q4 0:00 Colorado’s LaJohntay Wester caught a last minute miracle 43-yard touchdown pass from Sanders tying the game at 31-31.

End of 4th Quarter At the start of the quarter Colorado is able to establish the run game as Isaiah Agustave aids in the advancement of two first downs. Baylor regained the lead midway through the 4th quarter with a 24 yard touchdown pass. Tensions are high as Colorado seems unable to make any successful momentum but with 1 second left on the clock, QB Shedeur Sanders throws an incredible 43-yard Hail Mary to LaJohntay Wester followed by another consistently successful field goal by Alejandro Mata sending the game into overtime at 31-31.

Overtime In an electrifying conclusion Colorado faces Baylor in overtime after a nail biting second half of the game. With a tied score both teams showed immense resolve and tenacity as they entered the extra period. Colorado was able to move the ball down the field scoring a crucial touchdown and showcasing a mix of strategic offense and tenacious defense. While Baylor responded with urgency, Travis Hunter defended the ball carrier forcing an astonishing fumble. The final score of 38-31 not only highlighted Colorado’s resilience but also left fans on the edge of their seats, encapsulating the excitement of college football at its finest.
