Celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month, CU Fitness and Wellness hosted an Afro-Latin Dance Party at the Rec Center’s Studio 2, headlined by DJ Starseed. This lively event was not only a celebration of music and dance but also a meaningful opportunity to honor Afro-Latin culture and the deep roots these styles have within the Hispanic community. With a playlist pulsing with salsa, bachata, merengue, cumbia and reggaeton, participants experienced firsthand the rhythms and techniques that embody many vibrant cultures.

Once the records started spinning, dancers gravitated toward the floor, following Starseed’s instructions with growing confidence. The constant partner exchanges fostered a strong sense of community and camaraderie, with attendees laughing and loosening up as the music drew them in. The Rec Center echoed with upbeat rhythms, drawing more students in like moths to a flame.
