COOL NEW ADDS FOR YOUR MID-APRIL PLEASURE

Babe Rainbow – Slipper imp and Shakerator

“Babe Rainbows newest album Slipper imp and Shakerator is a good friend who rolls a jay for you while you lay in a sunny meadow. The album communicates the sounds and feeling of nature and sunshine. Using unique instruments like wind chimes, bongos, gentle buzzing synths, and dancing guitar riffs all paired with a smooth bass and soft drums. Babe Rainbow sticks to theme and sings about abundance for all humans, love, and ‘good vibes’.”

Cameron Winter – Heavy Metal

“Beautiful singer-songwriter album that feels blasted in a rocket ship from a different era. Maybe he’s saying nonsense on here but it feels meaningful. Apparently he really recorded this album at Guitar Center”

The Men – Buyer Beware

“If you’re looking for the sound of classic punk and a little bit of indie rock, Buyer Beware is for you. You almost immediately notice the cool use of stereo. This is definitely an album you want headphones or speakers for to experience it fully. There is 37 seconds of the sounds of a dryer near the end of the album which is a surprisingly good beat. The Men also incorporate what seems to be a little bit of indie garage rock influence, getting melodic at times and even including a slightly softer song called ‘Charm’. ‘PO Box 96’ stood out to me and seems like it could have been a classic straight out of 1976.”

Ollella – Antifragile

“This was a really awesome album! This singer/songwriter album draws on a lot of musical influences – it fluctuates between an ambient, country, and soul/gospel sound. Its instrumentals are quite diverse, giving it a really unique sound that I enjoyed. The string instruments were my favorite part – they felt quite suspenseful, and reminded me of breathing. The organ featured in some of the more gospel-influenced songs was also quite beautiful. Ollella’s alto, smokey vocals are clear and engaging. She reminded me a lot of Anaïs Mitchell. I think this album is definitely worth a listen – I can’t think of anything else that is remotely similar to it.”
