MARCH ADDS AND MUSIC FOR THE SPRING

Here’s what we’ve added this month, and a few words from our super cool volunteers about them:

Hour – Subminiature

“This was a really pretty album. This album was almost entirely instrumental, with the exception of one song (Track 14, “I Fall to Pieces”) that featured vocals. This album was recorded live, which I found quite charming, since it was nice to think that there was an audience listening with me. The band was incredible – I really loved the strings and the woodwinds. The woodwinds in particular were quite expressive, matching the tone of the track titles. This album was quite calming and peaceful, making it perfect to have on in the background. It felt like frost.” – Emily

Oklou – Choke Enough

“I really liked this album, it was a great light airy dreamy pop album which is my type of thing. I loved the Bladee collab song as well. My favorite song is plague dogs. The use of the light poppy synths with the snare I loved. It has some really catchy lyrics as well. I would love to hear this album in a club or sampled in a DJ set.” – Jane

Saya Gray – Saya

“This was a pretty neat album! This alt pop album was pretty unique, and fluctuated in tone throughout, meaning I wasn’t bored at any point while listening. Saya Gray’s vocals are airy and pretty, and I loved the fun harmonies throughout. The electronic elements were really awesome – they gave the album a futuristic feeling. I loved the base line in track 2 (“SHELL (OF A MAN)”). I thought the album cover was interesting. I’m happy so much of this album will be on the air – I think it will bring a lot of life to general rotation.” – Emily

Lobsterfight – My Coat Hanger is a Necklace

“When someone recommends you an emo album you don’t expect to hear banjo and Charlie Brown, but that is exactly what you hear when you listen to My Coat Hanger is A Necklace. And that is by no means a bad thing, in fact it is wonderful. Lobsterfight blends classic and modern emo sounds with pop culture in such an awesome way that it captivates you immediately. What makes it better is that the lyrics have depth to them that you don’t expect at the beginning of the album but as you listen become more and more clear.” – Ella

The Velveteers – A Million Knives

“BoulCO natives!! I liked this album a lot (and wish I took the opportunity to see them live) but the well-written songs suffer from being produced by the guy from The Black Keys. I googled who produced it because of how similar the production sounds to those loathsome Ohioans: lo and behold. It actively began to annoy me at a certain point, but what can you do?” – Gavin

Stay cool on these spring days, see ya next month, and KEEP ON LISTENING!!!
