Photoessay: CU Divers Earn First Place at Buff Invite Swim Meet

CU Boulder hosted their Fall Buff Invite swim meet last Saturday Sept. 28th. The event took place at the Broomfield Community Center in Broomfield, Colo. with several schools in attendance. Among them were the University of Northern Colorado, Colorado State University and the University of Colorado Denver. The students photographed below are members of the CU Boulder Dive Team, who also competed at the Buff Invite.  

Rachel Suter, 21, a member of the CU Boulder Dive Team, performing her back dive straight at the Fall Buff Invite in Broomfield, Colo. on Saturday, Sept. 28. She finished the meet with a final score of 208.20. 

Sophie Trudell, 20, performing her front one-and-a-half somersault pike at CU Boulder’s Buff Invite in Broomfield, Colo. on Saturday, Sept. 28th. Trudell finished the meet with a final score of 209.05. 

Nick Haseman, 21, at CU Boulder’s Fall Buff Invite in Broomfield, Colo. on Saturday, Sept. 28. Haseman is performing his inward dive pike, which has a difficulty degree of 1.5. 

Edie Goldner, 19, performing her reverse dive tuck at CU Boulder’s Buff Invite in Broomfield, Colo. on Saturday, Sept. 28. The dive has a difficulty degree of 1.6 and Goldner’s final score for the meet was 169.26. 

Genna Rump, 20, a member of the CU Boulder Dive Team, getting ready to perform her front one-and-a-half somersault pike at the Fall Buff Invite in Broomfield, Colo. on Saturday, Sept. 28. Rump came in 2nd place for the Women 18-24 One Meter Diving event. 

Benjamin Kirchoff, 20, performing his front dive pike, at CU Boulder’s Buff Invite in Broomfield, Colo. on Saturday, Sept. 28. Kirchoff earned 17 points for CU Boulder, finishing in 2nd place with a final score of 183.05. 

Deborah Martushev, 19, performing her front dive straight at CU Boulder’s Fall Buff Invite in Broomfield, Colo. on Saturday, Sept. 28. Martushev finished the meet with a final score of 144.00, scoring nine points for CU Boulder. 

Mari Sippel, 21, at CU Boulder’s Fall Buff Invite in Broomfield, Colo. on Saturday, Sept. 28. Sippel finished the meet with a final score of 195.05, scoring 13 points for CU Boulder. 

Gabriel Zinser, 19, performing his front one-and-a-half somersault tuck at CU Boulder’s Fall Buff Invite in Broomfield, Colo. on Saturday, Sept. 28. Zinser brought home 16 points for CU Boulder, finishing the meet with a final score of 134.05. 

Overall, the CU Boulder Dive Team brought home a total of 132 points. Out of the seven schools in attendance, the CU Boulder Swim and Dive Team as a whole came in first place in all three rankings. In the women’s rankings, CU Boulder beat Colorado State University, who came in 2nd place, by a total of 478 points. The men’s rankings show an even greater margin, beating CSU by 1,211 points.
