Neue Haus 025: A summery house party

This week on Neue Haus, enjoy an hour full of light, carefree house music! I’ll be drawing from disco, acid house, dub, and everywhere in between to stitch together a DJ set in celebration of the upcoming spring. No featured albums this week – just a collection of exciting new artists and labels, all released in the last few months. Read on to learn more about them.

You’ll be hearing from South London producer Parris a couple of times today. The Trilogy Tapes signee just released 2 Vultures, his debut EP for the label, and it’s a strangely enticing collection of darkly goofy dub techno. Also from the UK are Lone and Finn. These two make ecstatic, youthful house music in their own unique way; Lone uses slithery synths, and Finn brings the old-school soul samples. Also featured heavily are Earth Boys, whose Trail Remix EP made a big impression on me this January – get ready for reworks from Canada’s Khotin, Tim Sweeney of the radio show Beats in Space, and the Earth Boys themselves.

Moving things further around the globe, get ready for the newest release from Sweden’s coolest new house label. Studio Barnhus has made a name for themselves with the goofy jams issued by the likes of Baba Stiltz and Kornél Kovács; if you like those two, you’ll love Laid Back, the new EP by Arvid Wretman’s Your Planet Is Next project. Laid Back mixes breezy deep house with a healthy portion of acid and even some breakbeats; it’s a don’t-miss record for the summer. Finally, get ready for some simmering Australian grooves, courtesy of Jex Opolis and Tunnel Signs. All that, this week on Neue Haus!
