Philadelphia Spotlight: Homestead Collective

Homestead Collective is an indie-folk duo. Caitlyn Deviney and Ben Morris met in high school, and both grew up playing instruments. Their love for music drew them together, and they formed the duo in January of 2017. Later that year, they recorded and released a six track self-titled EP that defines and gives insight to their unique sound. Catchy and memorable melodies mixed with haunting and honest lyrics make Homestead Collective’s music great to sit down with and take in. Homestead Collective hopes to record brand new music by the end of this year, as well as play shows regionally and in the greater Philadelphia area.

In addition to their music, Ben and Caitlyn host monthly gatherings near Philly. These include potlucks and creative sharing time for all artists across every artistic medium. Their goal is to provide a safe and supportive community of artists to express themselves in their respective mediums, and allow for artists to make lifelong friendships and connections. Just this past September, the duo hosted a songwriting retreat for them and eight other artists over the course of three days. Also, this past summer they hosted a backyard concert series that featured many artists throughout the summer. Going forward with this vision of spreading positivity and acceptance, Ben and Caitlyn hope to host even more events, write more stories through song and share them with the world, and continue to build an authentic community around the greater Philadelphia region and beyond.
